Time for EBAY to Listen Up!

Ebay is a Monopoly that doesn't give a damn!

This is a GLOBAL BOYCOTT to get ebay to reduce their fees (definitive percentage reduction to be decided) for the benefit of ALL Buyers and Sellers.

I don't know about you but I'm getting sick and tired of being ripped off by Internet Monopolies like Ebay. Their attitude sucks. Their fees suck. And now their service is beginning to suck.

Without the buyers and sellers who make up the ebay community, there simply wouldn't be an ebay. So if the current nonchalant attitude prevails then we could be witnessing the beginning of the end for the e-Monolith. It's end would of course be fine as long as we have an alternative that isn't out to shaft us at every turn.

But until such time as there is a credible alternative, we need to take matters into our own hands. This is about empowerment. It's about the people taking control of their own destiny. If we act as a collective voice we can take power away from the Monopolies and hand it back to the people. If we sit back and do nothing, then they win and we are beaten into submission.

I'm outraged at the fees. Don't get me wrong, I understand that there needs to be a fee for the service and maybe even a small percentage. But within reason because we're getting triple-wammied!

By the time we've been screwed good for the up front listing fees and all the add-ons, then the back-end Final Value Fees, there's precious little left before being hit by the Paypal percentage. Who owns Paypal? Just in case you didn't know, it's Ebay. It's especially tough if you're a struggling new business with a premier business account. If you happen to be below a certain threshold of sales per month, then you really get hammered.

My guess is I'm not alone in the way I feel. We're at the point where margins are squeezed to such a degree that it really is becoming a futile and pointless excercise listing on ebay. The only body that gains for our hard work and effort is Ebay. They're squeezing sellers like me to such an extent that they're killing the geese that lay the golden eggs.

All Ebay care about is their shareholders. Fine if you're a shareholder. Then again, when the sellers start to revolt in significant numbers what will happen to the share price then?

No sellers, no buyers, no shareholders! Goodbye Ebay.

So what can we do to change the situation?

Well, what I'm suggesting is a Global Boycott to get Ebay to see sense.
On a series of days throughout the next 12 Months I'm calling for ALL EBAY SELLERS and BUYERS (as it affects buyers too by them having to pay higher prices) to Boycott Ebay.

ACTION

If you're a SELLER then DO NOT LIST or SELL on the specified days.
If you're a BUYER then DO NOT BID or BUY on the specified days.

Here are the first 6 BOYCOTT DATES:

DAY 1:
Monday 2nd April, 2007

DAY 2:
Monday 7th May, 2007

DAY 3:
Monday 4th June, 2007

DAY 4:
Monday 2nd July, 2007

DAY 5:
Monday 6th August, 2007

DAY 6:
Monday 3rd September, 2007

We're targetting the first Monday of every month for the next 12 months. If there is little or no change or acknowledgement from ebay after the first 6 months then we will step up the campaign with additional days.

NOTE TO EBAY:
Once the campaign gets under way we will post details of the percentage reduction in fees that we (as a collective) are requesting.

This is the only way in my opinion that will make Ebay sit up and take notice. We hit them where it hurts most. Hopefully then they will think about the merits and advantages of looking after their sellers (the Golden Geese) and by default the buyers, by reducing their fees.

Let's face it, they can afford it!

We can't.

Also, please show your support by posting your thoughts to this blog. You can do it anonymously if you wish.

FOR THIS TO BE EFFECTIVE WE NEED TO ACT AS ONE.
THAT MEANS ALL OF US GLOBALLY.

Many Thanks for your support.
